2C - Maillet, Nancy

Welcome to 2C
Alamo and Me

Mrs. Nancy Menchaca Maillet

I am pleased to be your child's second grade teacher.  I thank you in advance for entrusting your child to my care and I trust we can work together in making this a successful school year.

Just to let you know a little about my background, I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas.   I was destined to become a product of the El Paso Independent School District: A K-7th grade Longhorn student from Lamar Elementary and from 8th -12th grade a Tiger from El Paso High School.  Love of family kept me rooted in my hometown.  As a UTEP Miner I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, majoring in English Language; I went on to earn my Bilingual certification after being told of the need for educators in this area; and later earned my Masters as a Specialist in the area of Educational Technology from the University of Texas at El Paso.

I began teaching in 1987 and have taught in every grade level from first through fifth.  I have taught both monolingual (English) and bilingual classes.  In addition to working with children I was also a Program Manager and Parent Educator for a reading program at three campuses.  I must say I missed the children and gladly returned to the classroom.  I've been at Kohlberg for sixteen years.

Yes, I do have a life beyond Kohlberg, though it seems I spend more hours at school than at home at times.  Outside the school walls I've been blessed with my marriage of 28  years and am a proud parent of 27 year old twins!

Why is Stanford University my classroom's college of choice? I'm also a proud sister to   a Stanford University brother! He too went through the EPISD school system and UTEP. He then went onto Stanford for his Masters. Thank you Albert for inspiring me to dream for higher education.
